Carry Me

August 13th, 2009

It all started out
As a simple request
Nothing intended
No interest
But it all got too deep
Thoughts began flowing
Carried away
I’m not sure where I’m going

[Chorus:]
I don’t know what to do
I’m so lost in my head
And I try to go forward
But backwards instead
And the clock keeps on ticking
Time keeps on moving
And I am so small
And I am still losing

My mind and my thoughts
They just won’t tag along
And for once I’m not confused
But for once it’s not wrong
And it’s only their opinions
But mine isn’t me
Then when I turn around
I don’t like what I see

[Chorus:]
I don’t know what to do
I’m so lost in my head
And I try to go forward
But backwards instead
And the clock keeps on ticking
Time keeps on moving
And I am so small
And I am still losing

And here I am
Just looking in the mirror
And who I thought I was
Is no longer here
It’s just me in the world
Not sure what to say
Because speaking my thoughts
I get carried away

[Chorus:]
I don’t know what to do
I’m so lost in my head
And I try to go forward
But backwards instead
And the clock keeps on ticking
Time keeps on moving
And I am so small
And I am still losing

Please just pull me back
To who I once knew
I can’t keep on going
Just knowing it’s you
You didn’t say much
Or nothing at all
But here I am
Will you catch me when I fall

  1. Hi sweetie, your song sounds like when the Beatles sang “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” you now, the Girl With Kaleidoscope Eyes? Your pentameter goes exactly like, “Picture yourself on a boat an a river…” Check the song out maybe and keep your lyrics but find a more original arrangement. Writing songs is hard. So keep at it and best of luck!

      • I used to try and write songs, Karissa, and I did the same thing. & then I was like how do I write a tune without hearing the Beatles? I actually thought OMG! All the songs have been written… but they haven’t been. Anyhow… I do hope you are still singing. And still song writing. 🙂
