House of Cards

August 14th, 2022

I hope this poem finds you well
Hiding in your house of cards
You gave enough to gain my trust
But you never dropped your guard
Too afraid to travel the world
Or have a serious conversation
Wasting my time like it’s yours to gamble
And you leave me in frustration
You never cared enough to ask
You treat life like it’s poker
So I will continue to fold
When I needed an ace but all I got was a joker
So I hope this poem brings you hell
Because I will call your bluff
And if you keep using people like toys
You will never be enough

Supposed To Be

August 23rd, 2009

How was it supposed to be this way? How did this end up? Peaceful as it seems, everything’s a wreck. Waiting for something to happen, that will never work out as I planned, is taking too long for the disappointment to reach. Rehearsed conversations, talking to mirrors, nothing’s making sense, and I just want something to hold onto that won’t change. I don’t know what I want, and the more I try to figure it out, the more unsure of myself I am.

Note: Earlier this year I was moving and I found some writing in a notebook from my senior year of high school. I experimented with many styles of writing and poetry, so I’ll be posting these for the time being. My current poetry and 2011 (which I’ve been posting) are on hold for the time being. Thank you everyone for your support!

Consumed By Words

November 30th, 2021

Your words were like motive
With secret intention
Was this premeditated
Consuming me with attention
Your words were filling
I swallowed them up
Drunk on emotions
I couldn’t get enough
Your words were dwindling
Like our conversation
You can’t build anything
Without a foundation
Your words were like quicksand
Struggling not to sink
Holding on to life as I knew it
Which you made me rethink
