I wonder if you wonder
What I’m writing over here
Can you even see me
Or do your eyes not adhere
I wonder can you hear me
When you look the other way
I’m slowly disappearing
With the lack of your dismay
I wonder what you’re thinking
When our eyes lock in a stare
Can you feel my pain
Or do you just not care

You once told me you never loved me
You twisted the words like a knife
Then we continued on like it never happened
Living a fantasy life
I never asked myself if I wanted this
But my options were so very few
I continued in my ignorance
Because I only wanted you
You once told me you loved someone else
Many years in the past
You put her feelings over mine
Because you thought we wouldn’t last
I was in the dark as you reconnected
Your heart began to yearn
And when I read what you had said
I only felt the burn
