The Invitation

July 18th, 2022

You were unexpected to say the least
When your messages consumed my time
I was looking for a distraction
And you seemed to be inclined
A spontaneous invitation
An arrangement from a joke
I accepted your offer
Which you did not revoke
The taste of whiskey on your tongue
The scent tingling my nose
I admit I kissed you first
You played me like dominos
A careless decision in the midnight hours
A feeling I’ve never known
I got lost inside your games
When I should have stayed alone

Shadow’s Scars

April 2nd, 2011

Back in that house
I couldn’t be safe
The feeling of comfort
Was too far away
I thought I would die
I thought you wouldn’t care
Cause every time I cried
You were never there
The bruises have healed
But the memories stay
And two houses later
It hasn’t gone away
Because I cannot forgive
The things I’ll never forget
And everything I went through
Do you even regret
Only one scar remains
Because it was real
And though you won’t admit it
Time will never heal

Just Another Drink

February 23rd, 2011

Just one more sip
But somehow the bottle’s already gone
It never stays full for long
She lays in her room
She knows nothing’s okay
She knows she’s right
But it’s all wrong

Through a night’s sleep
The day disappears
It just disappears
It’s already gone

Just another drink
And another bottle
Things fall apart
The roots so deep
What you’ve come to be
Just another drink

So unforgiving
It won’t leave her glass
This isn’t her
It’s all just a blur
But I see so clear
The ending so near
Of my loss of faith

Another drop
And my heart stops
It can no longer feel

I’ve become so numb
I’m just too young
To know who you’ve become
Would you want that for me
To do as I see
To give up everything
For just another drink
