You wake up one day
And you’re not in your life
Everything is different
And nothing seems right
You’re not sure who you are
You’re filled with confusion
Was everything in your head
Just an illusion?
These bodies fill the room
All they are is a blur
They’re living the lives of people
That they never were
It’s all pretend
This all feels fake
How long can someone live a lie
Before they have to break

I sit in this mess
of my life
of my stuff
Filling pages with words
I just can’t say enough
I hide in my mind
in my visions
in my thoughts
Looking at my life
This is all that I’ve got

You once told me you never loved me
You twisted the words like a knife
Then we continued on like it never happened
Living a fantasy life
I never asked myself if I wanted this
But my options were so very few
I continued in my ignorance
Because I only wanted you
You once told me you loved someone else
Many years in the past
You put her feelings over mine
Because you thought we wouldn’t last
I was in the dark as you reconnected
Your heart began to yearn
And when I read what you had said
I only felt the burn
